up and running

Well, things are running. There's not too much built yet, but it's getting there. The first step down lip has been turned into a roller so you don't have to jump into the first berm. As you can see from the background of this picture, when you come out of the first berm you have a roller/step-down/down-roller into a pit that comes up to this lip. The lip was only going to be about 4ft tall but managed to work its way up to 5 1/2ft. The hip is only 6ft from inside corner to inside corner and apx. 9ft from outside corner to corner. We were pretty lucky building the hip. We just cut it out of the side of an embankment. We have some stuff built after this hip, we just don't have any pictures yet.

We can all thank Tyler for this picture of Peter. It's such an "artistic" picture.

It's started.........SON!!!!

Aight, we did it!...actually Peter and T-Murdah did it. The other day they started actually digging a new line after we had raked it out. It is amazing to think that the spot that I took people to, to check out, and actually started digging on the first line/jump without me, but whatever. Right now I am liking at what we have. We have such a HUGE place with endless opportunities at this spot, not to mention that the dirt is REALLY easy to dig. It's amazing how easy it is to dig not to mention how hard it packs in. If parts of this doesn't make much sense it's because....well stuff happens and I have other things on my mind.

The start of the first of many line starts from a higher elevation. Where you start is about 6ft higher than the first jump, which is a step-down.

The guys in the picture from left to right are Peter, T-Murdah (Tyler) and Jacob. That's it for now, just a step down to a right hand berm.

new river, new spot

Well, after not wanting to look for a new spot since our tools were stolen I decided I was going to start looking again. The west side of the highway has terrible dirt so I wanted to see what might be on the east side.

I told Peter I wanted to go check a spot and asked if he'd go out with me to get a second opinion. We got out there, walked through dead grass that's 5ft tall, through huge trees that have fallen, over tons of trash that was washed down there during a "flood" or huge amount of rain (probably 2 years ago). The first spot we were ok with, but we weren't excited about it, but it would work. As we were leaving we saw another spot with a lot of trees spread out. We couldn't see through the tree line and didn't want to bother hiking over there.

The next day Peter, Turner and I went out to check it out. It's really nice. The location is good also, but could potentially be bad due to location. I mean, we've been by there hundreds of times and never even had a thought to look over there while driving by. Peter drives by the spot at least once a week and until a couple of months ago I would drive by it a couple of times a week to either fish, shoot guns or go hunting and never even bothered to look in that direction.

Anyways, the land has a lot of natural elevation changes, natural rollers and berms and has a good distance of a slight downhill grade. I took a shovel and 2 buckets out there this morning since it rained last night. The shovel sunk in the ground with ease and had minimal sticking on the shovel head. I think since all of the dirt has been washed down there from floods and tons of rain it hasn't packed itself naturally. However, the dirt that is packed in is rock hard and is hard to break up. There's also a cliff of the dirt that is there that is super packed so we don't think it will fall apart easily.

I guess we'll find out in the next couple of weeks how it really is out there after we rake out a line and build some rollers to see how the dirt packs.

Peace.
