going down, coming up

Well, with a lot of school stuff going down, not much has come up (at the trails). Since the last post we have built a landing for the set after the long/low. We built the landing yesterday and today, all-in-all I'd say it took us 1.5hrs. The only reason is because we cut a really big dead tree into 4 pieces about 10ft long and stacked 3 of them like a triangle (2 on bottom and 1 in the middle) with the 4th in front of the triangle and then stacked the dirt.

We have packed the long/low but haven't been able to hit it until today. The set before it has changed 3 times since the last post. Every change made the lip shorter in height and a little closer to the landing. We also made a set up set before it to allow you to get some good pump. After getting the front end over a couple of times and watching Pete case it a lot we decided to shave off 6in of height from the landing and shave out 6 inches of the face of the landing so it's a little shorter in length as well. After doing this and jumping (with the lip still soft and wet) we were able to get over it with a little work.

We also found out that the long/low set isn't necessarily "long/low", but more of a long/high set. Apparently the lip needs to be mellowed out a bit. This we are not entirely sure of though because the landing before it was getting pretty beat up and soft after we did some last minute work on it. I never tried it but Pete was casing it to death.

Hopefully I'll remember to take the camera out tomorrow and get some action shots. There should be a hand full of people out to dig and ride if the rain holds off.

I think I'm losing a little, not much, but a little of my "racer style" over some sets. It's still there, but not as heavy as it was.
